As part of the peace and reconcilation project Yme has had with the Norwegian-Somali diaspora NorSom, it has been carried out a peace tour from Mogadishu to London, Minneapolis, Toronto and Oslo. – Attendance and response along has been far more than we could expect, says project manager Mohammed Elmi Sabri Jamall. – Somali diaspora around the world wants peace for their homeland and want to contribute on many levels, he said.

In Oslo there showed up enthusiastic guests from both England and Somalia. People from the Norwegian aid community and the Foreign Ministry also participated. Former Minister of international development, Heike Holmås, has a huge commitment to Somalia and contributed to the debate.

Nasir Ali from Minhaj Ul-Quran had a very interesting presentation about combating extremism with Islamic teachings. Cindy Horst from PRIO (The Peace Research Institute Oslo) also gave an interesting presentation about women’s perspective on the Horn of Africa .
